Results
Summarize and illustrate findings logically
(use tables and figures)
In the text, refer to tables and figures
(use the same words as in the titles)
Be consistent with method & material
Report an estimate of a parameter with its confidence interval
Mean (95% CI: X to Y)
Avoid use of ± (x ± SD), use x(SD)
Standard Deviation (SD): measure of variability in sample data (SD = s = √S²)
Standard errror of mean (SE): measure of variability in sample means (SE = SD/√n)
SE ⇒ 0 as n↑
Do not repeat numbers in the table in the text
Describe findings with support from table
Avoid traditional use of significancy
Avoid redundancy in writing
Be specific, not ambiguous
Report no more than 3 decimal digits
Be careful about filtering data
Recognize negative results
Use “significance” for statistics (level of significance)
Use “important”or “relevant” for science
Check sample size and power
Your results should be statistically significant and scientifically important
